Concrete Grinding & Surface Prep
Diamond grinding, crack repair, and slab correction. This is the part that decides whether a coating lasts.
More on concrete grinding & surface prepColumbus is a short run east on Highway 82 and one of the towns we are in most often. It also has some of the oldest concrete we work on.
Columbus is close enough to Starkville that we treat it as part of our home territory. We are over there most weeks, which makes scheduling straightforward and means a small job does not have to wait for us to fill a whole day.
The thing that sets Columbus apart is the age of the housing stock. The historic district and the older neighborhoods around it have slabs that have been down for decades, and decades of Mississippi ground movement shows up as cracking, settling and spalled edges. That is not a reason to skip coating a floor, but it is a reason to be honest about the prep. On an older Columbus slab, more of the job is grinding, crack repair and rebuilding spalled areas than it is putting color down, and any quote that does not account for that is going to come up short.
Columbus Air Force Base also shapes the work here. Families rotate through on a schedule, and we get called both by people wanting a garage finished before they list a house and by people who have just arrived and want the garage sorted before everything gets unpacked into it. Either way the timeline usually matters more than it does on a typical residential job, and we will tell you up front whether we can hit your date.
On the commercial side, the industrial corridor along the Tennessee-Tombigbee is a different animal again. Shop and warehouse floors there get specified for chemical exposure and forklift traffic rather than looks, and the system we would put in a working shop is not the one we would put in somebody’s garage.

Historic-district concrete usually needs real crack and spall repair first.
Move-in and pre-sale jobs where the date genuinely matters.
Shop and warehouse systems specified for traffic and chemicals.
We do all six of our services here. These are the three that come up most often.

We diamond grind the slab to open the concrete, then cut out and fill cracks, rebuild spalls, and level low spots.
Pigmented base coat goes down, then flake or quartz broadcast to refusal. Once it sets we scrape and vacuum the surface back flat.
A clear topcoat seals everything in. Before we start you will know exactly when you can walk on it and when you can park on it.
